The Belgian-Canadian singer-songwriter previously performed with the bands Little Dots and Ansatz Der Maschine. After years of touring with her acclaimed Leonard Cohen tribute, Sophia finally unveiled her long-awaited solo debut. Here I Am is an album filled with idiosyncratic and cinematic songs: narrative and immersive, with a touch of magical realism. Music at the crossroads of indie, folk and country. The album was recorded in the US with producer Shane Leonard (Josh Ritter, Anna Tivel). Live, Sophia is joined among others by bassist Tim Vandenbergh (Colorist Orchestra, SunSunSun), who also contributed to the album’s production and arrangements, both in Belgium and the US. This summer, Sophia performed at Gent Jazz, among other venues, and embarked on a tour of Canada.
