Indie · Ghent
momoyo is the Ghent-based indie band formed by Jonas Bruyneel (Philemon, Vincent Coomans), Esther Coorevits (Jan Verstraeten, Tourist LeMC), Frie Mechele (Vincent Coomans), Renaud Debruyne (Mirek Coutigny, Mergel), and Sven Sabbe (Galine). The five-piece made an impressive debut in 2020 with their first EP, which received airplay on Belgium’s national radio stations Radio 1 and Studio Brussel. Two years later, they released their debut album, Gaps In Time. The band subsequently toured throughout Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. In early 2025, momoyo revisited several of their songs in the intimate Mirror Session EP. The release earned both national and international critical acclaim and resulted in nearly 1.5 million streams. In January 2026, momoyo released their second full-length album, Home Is Just A State Of Mind, on Wellington Records. On this album, the band reflects on the people they have lost over the past decade and the choices they have made along the way. Embracing a more stripped-back and authentic approach, the songs were recorded live and remain close to the band's core identity. By allowing imperfections and exposing themselves completely, momoyo has created their most honest, deeply personal, and effortless record to date—without sacrificing danceability. Their signature driving grooves, sun-drenched guitar lines, and memorable vocal melodies are still very much present.
